Lesson #1000 – A Very Significant Milestone!
We are delighted to let you know that with the support of our donors, volunteers and team, we have just published our 1000th unique lesson!
The DVD of “Human Trafficking” in Russian passed its final quality control checks last week, and is now available for partners to request from our website. This is also the 13th resource available in Russian, and the 28th language in which this vital lesson is available.
To mark the occasion, our Director Rachel Butt gave a presentation copy of the lesson to former Director, Stephen Clarke, who was instrumental in building the organisation up over many years.
We’d like to thank all the translators, voice artists, authors and other volunteers who have worked so hard over the years on all our lessons, enabling us to reach this milestone, and of course the supporters whose gifts enable our work to continue.
We now offer lessons in around 60 languages, and as there are 33 lesson titles available there is still plenty of work to do just to complete them all! If you know of any organisations who might be interested in any of our lessons please do get in touch.
In recognition of this achievement, we’d love to ask you if you would make a donation. It costs around £60 to send a full set of lessons to one of our partners, but those lessons can go on to reach many thousands of people in the wider community. “Volunteering gave me confidence”
The people who translate and record TME’s lessons into local languages are crucial to our work. They need to speak the language as their own mother-tongue, and have a good grasp of English, but most important is a simple desire to use their skills and time to help.
One such volunteer is Randa Alsomali. We met her at the Volunteering Fair at Coventry University (10 miles from our office) and she was keen to get involved, but a bit unsure.
This is Randa’s story – click here.
(with thanks to Coventry University Student’s Union).
